We have received an overwhelming interest for the ISEM 2019 conference, with an increase of submitted abstracts by more than 70%. Under the theme eco:model:spaces this year’s ISEM is hosted by the Department of Geoinformatics – Z_GIS at the University of Salzburg from 1.-5. October 2019. We now proceed with compiling the programme, for which we can already state: Salzburg is going to be the location, where the ecological modelling community will push forward the concepts, methods and applications of spatially-explicit process modelling in ecology.

Looking forward to the “spatial” highligts of ISEM 2019:

  • Keynote presentation “Using spatial simulation to understand ecosystem dynamics of the past and their legacies for the future
by George Perry (The University of Auckland, New Zealand)
  • Symposium “What is special about spatial simulation?
organised by Gudrun Wallentin (University of Salzburg, Z_GIS), George Perry (The University of Auckland, New Zealand)
  • Symposium “Spatiotemporal Methods for Aquatic Systems
organised by Elizabeth Duskey (Cornell University, USA)
  • Excursion to the “Landscape Lab”
led by Hermann Klug (University of Salzburg, Z_GIS)
